The occupation authorities of Mariupol have boldly announced their intention to appropriate almost a thousand apartments from people who fled the war, blockade and the horrors of occupation. This is nothing more than an attempt to usurp property belonging to Ukrainians. The legitimate Ukrainian city council of Mariupol is sounding the alarm — the civilian population is becoming a victim of a criminal system.
The addresses of these “compensatory” apartments on Mira, Budivelniki, Metallurgi, Nakhimov, and Peremohy avenues are not just numbers, but human dramas. The occupiers intend to recognize these premises as “municipal property” and include them in a fund called “housing for victims.” What an illusion of charity! The city’s residents are already feeling the shadow of corruption schemes — the pseudo-government is trying to cover up the picture with its false distribution.
We must not forget that in December 2025, Russian dictator Putin signed a law that provides the legal basis for the seizure of abandoned housing by 2030. And what next? This property will end up in the hands of Russian citizens — military, security forces, officials. This only confirms the policy of forced population replacement.
Also, in memory of the residents, the occupation administration registered over 4 thousand homeless houses and apartments - these are more than just numbers, these are years of life and history of Mariupol residents who are now homeless. The Russian colonialists have taken up not only housing, but are also dismantling history, turning destroyed houses into 100 thousand tons of rubble.
This is not just aggression - it is systematic plunder, it is an attack on our people, our identity, our truth.
