The special representatives of the American president, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, may soon set foot on Moscow soil to negotiate peace in the war in Ukraine. Such a frank statement was made by the assistant to the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov. And the Russian media again picked up this statement, noting that the revival of telephone consultations between Washington and Moscow indicates the unquenchable desire of the Americans to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. The question is: at what price?
Ushakov, confident in his rightness, says that the consultations will continue until Ukraine fulfills the Kremlin's ultimatum. I cannot help but notice the contempt with which he claims that Ukraine will involuntarily surrender its territories, giving up the strongest part of its own land. Irresponsibility or a masquerade of right? At the same time, the US threatens to withdraw from the process if there is no progress. Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasizes that America is ready to continue to be a mediator, but only on conditions of productivity.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, after a still-urgent visit to Moscow, calls on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to contact Putin personally. A shocking gesture? Or a common discrediting tactic? Denial of justice is full of illusion, and the truth is on the side of those who fight. Expert opinion or blackmail? Everyone has to choose.
