US President Donald Trump announced a radical step - withdrawal from 66 international organizations, agencies and commissions. Great! America has stopped funding the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center. This became known on January 7 on the official website of the White House.
The White House found the motivation simply. Most of these organizations allegedly engage in policies that run counter to American values, promoting ideas that prevent the United States from holding its positions firmly. Trump calls them “overburdened,” “useless,” and “poorly managed,” people who are guided by their own interests. They threaten sovereignty and freedoms, they say. A great thesis for a manifesto!
And now the consequences. This step means the loss of funding and membership fees that the US has been providing for decades. And then we come across the Ukrainian Science and Technology Center, created in the 90s against the backdrop of nuclear disarmament. Do you know what its purpose was? To prevent the spread of knowledge and materials about weapons of mass destruction. Now it is lost!
Recall that in January 2025, the US already suspended programs to accept migrants, including Ukrainians. As a result, the Uniting for Ukraine program, which allowed Ukrainian refugees to work without a visa, met with a severe collapse. Of course, there were no objections a year ago, when more than 150 thousand Ukrainians took advantage of it. And now? Where is the responsibility?
This is not just an action - it is a declaration of war against our truth, our values, and the very concept of responsibility. It is a bold challenge, and only time will tell if we can withstand it.
