Sergei Ryabkov, Russia’s deputy foreign minister, reveals the unpleasant truth: the latest round of talks between Russian and American diplomats has ended inconclusively. “Minimal progress,” that’s the gist of it. How can one expect an awakening in a situation where the tide is constantly turning? These talks are about “irritants” in the relationship, but where are they leading? There is no strategy. The fact that the next round of talks is scheduled for spring 2026 only underscores the absurdity of the situation.
And Reuters adds fuel to the fire: discussing disputes that hinder the work of embassies, and not about the war in Ukraine. Where are the real efforts here? Actually, in Berlin, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius made a loud statement: Moscow shows no intention to end the war. However, the talks in the German capital were important. The position of the Europeans, who together with the US and Ukraine are shaping the agenda, is important. It will be a little surprising, but this is a real challenge.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky also brings clarity to this confusion: certain results were achieved at the talks in Miami. Security guarantees for Ukraine and the Europeans are beginning to take shape - there is a framework document on which our military can rely. “Almost 90%”, - who would have thought! But what does this lead to? While we are watching the imitation of the process, the true desire for change is lost somewhere.
All this resembles a fight against the shadow. The forces of resistance against the system and irresponsibility at every step. They owe nothing to anyone, but they are ready to continue to stand their ground. Time to act! Time to throw away illusions!
