Iran is constantly in the news in the world media, because the situation in the region has reached a “chronic” aggravation. To Ukrainians, this region seems alien, distant, but this is an illusion. It’s just that 3,000 km from Korval to the border are not tangible, and memories of the agreements that began to disappear since March 2023 seem insignificant. However, Iran has not left us alone. The USA, Israel and their allies are nurturing the idea of a new attack on Tehran, again hoping that pressure will lead to concessions. The confrontation is present in various forms - the countries of the region have no desire to allow the blockade of Hormuz, through which most of the world’s oil passes.

American “pragmatic” diplomats like Vance, Witkoff, and Kushner deliver a silent attack, while the more aggressive Rubio calls for action. Who would have thought, but suspicions are expressed by companies close to these diplomats, which have significant investments in neighboring countries. Maybe that’s why they advocate diplomacy? In light of recent events, Trump has been “waving his fists” after the fight. Instead of supporting the protesters, he has filled the Middle East with a US naval platform, demanding a “nuclear deal.”.

However, Iran is known for its promises. It is mobilizing its supporters in Iraq, Lebanon and Yemen, gathering troops and, mind you, preparing a “global jihad”. Well, we have witnessed the transformation of a weak Iran into an underground power. Washington, on the other hand, is betting on a “Venezuelan scenario”. And if you drag all of Europe into this game, it will become even more inert.

And here Ukraine becomes present in the conversation. After Davos, President Zelensky could voice concerns about Europe's lack of a clear position on the Iranian protests. Every blood spilled on the streets of Tehran sounds like another unspoken protest, and Europe is trying to correct its failures, the recognition of the IRGC as a "terrorist organization" is by no means a significant progress.

Tehran has already threatened missile strikes on US bases in the region. And this whole story symbolizes once friendly relations that have turned into frozen antagonism. Iran has taken a deep breath from isolation, and we are left literally at the gates of history with virtually destroyed relations. The shooting parade could be the dacha of allies who have already become enemies with Iranian drones flying in our direction. Our knowledge of missile technology has been transferred to their advantage.

Why did this happen? First, after 1991, when Iran and Ukraine were operating in the context of global sanctions, we became partners on the verge of survival. Iran recognized our independence, and we were ready to immerse ourselves in economic projects. But everything came to naught. Technology took away our help, and attempts at cooperation again became an illusion. Russian “mediation” was financed again, and now, after the destruction of our plane in 2020, Iran feels opposition from our side.

This is how our stories, connected by a bloody thread, have been preserved. Iran revived its missile program, using the knowledge of Ukrainians, and we remained in the shadows, enduring the blows. Our story does not end, it requires a new page, a fight against powerlessness and irresponsibility. Iran may become a natural opponent for the Kremlin if changes occur, and this scenario may reflect our foreign strategy. Will we become partners again?
