The time for Ukraine in the EU has not yet come.

Talking about Ukraine's rapid accession to the EU? Ridiculous. Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff clearly emphasizes: we should not cherish illusions. The process of gaining membership in the European Union is not a game, but a reality that will last for years. Speaking at the Ukrainian Breakfast in Davos, Schoff emphasized that Ukraine should undoubtedly be part of the EU, but the path requires patience and effort. The war that is currently underway shows the amazing strength of the country - it, despite everything, strives for Europe. Yes, we should support and welcome this.

But the question is: when will it happen? Schoff does not shy away from the truth: «It is very difficult.» If we look at our affairs today, we need to take into account that their implementation may be delayed by several years. Honesty in this process is key. You cannot destabilize Europe just so that Ukraine can join too quickly.

Interesting things are also happening on the horizon: there was previously talk of possible membership as part of a peace agreement, and this prospect is now being actively discussed in the EU. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Taras Kachka says that even a timeframe is being developed - negotiations could be completed by 2027, with the hope of accession by 2030. Yes, rumors of a two-stage accession model have already appeared. Ukraine is being offered fewer rights at the initial stage, but with a faster path to full membership.

But let's not get confused: the realities are that the path to Europe is not an easy one. It will require effort and time, and the game of fairness begins precisely with this.
