Kyiv puts an end to feelings and doubts - we expect a political decision on our membership in the European Union as early as 2027. Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva met with a delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Security and Defense (SEDE) and clearly stated: we are not playing pretend, Ukraine is preparing for accession! Already in the first half of this year, we will be ready to open all projects that entail even hints of negotiations.
Ukraine's membership in the EU is not just a dream, it is our one hundred percent guarantee of security, not only for us, but for the entire European continent. And that is why we demand that the decision be made quickly, clearly, without hesitation! What else do we have to prove?
During the meeting, Zhovkva said that Ukraine urgently needs new missiles for its air defense system - we are under increased attack. We also paid attention to the PURL initiative, when we purchase missiles from the United States. 24 countries already support this program, and the total contribution reaches 5 billion greenbacks. And we, Ukrainians, need 15 billion dollars this year alone.
We also talked about preparations for the Ramstein format and our joint projects through the SAFE instrument - here we are talking about 5.2 billion euros! Zhovkva insisted that the share of financing for joint production should be at least 10% from the contributions of all states, so that the capabilities of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex are realized at full capacity.
But the Financial Times is already reporting on the 20-point peace plan, which mentions the date of our accession to the EU - 2027. But when there is a lack of consensus in the bloc's countries, everything is at risk. Our integrity is not just rhetoric, it is a need that requires action. Let's not stop, we cannot wait for lethargy and irresponsibility!
