Andriy Yermak, the former head of the President's Office, declared: 180 million hryvnias is simply fantastic. The bail demanded by the prosecutor's office is, for him, almost the most logical absurdity. "I don't have that kind of money," he sharply told reporters, emphasizing that he owns only those assets that are reflected in his declaration.
Yermak's lawyer, Igor Fomin, asks with implacable defiance: why does the prosecutor choose such a sky-high amount? 180 million is a fairy tale! “You have to carry this money in a jeep, and it won't fit,” Fomin notes. He notes with disappointment: the prosecutor is playing on emotions, based on the “lifestyle” of his client, and not on facts. Six years in the bunker, and when Yermak was released, where did he go? To Monaco or to the front? Where is the reality here, where is the truth?
Judge Viktor Nogachevsky announced that the final decision will be announced tomorrow, May 14, at 9:00. The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court (SAC) has begun considering the case, where Yermak is accused of legalizing funds obtained through criminal means. The SAPO prosecutor strongly emphasizes: Yermak's official income is not commensurate with his assets, and witnesses are sure that the ex-leader is a multimillionaire. She claims: 180 million is a mandatory alternative to arrest. Will we allow ourselves an imitation of justice?
This situation is evidence of the struggle between truth and illusion. We are for the truth of independence.
