The Council of Europe has banned the import of Russian gas

A new era is on the horizon. The EU Council has passed a decisive verdict: imports of Russian pipeline and liquefied gas will be completely banned by 2027. On the agenda is a final break with the past and energy independence. This is not just a decision, it is a manifesto! Freedom is more expensive than crazy money.

The ban, like a hammer blow to the system, will come into force six weeks after the official entry into force of the regulation. Existing contracts will receive a transition period, but this only confirms every time: we are no longer dependent on Russian energy carriers. The verdict for LNG imports is the beginning of 2027, for pipeline gas - the fall of 2027. It is time to play by the new rules.

Before allowing gas imports, EU countries will check the real energy sources. We are facing challenges, but we are ready. By March 2026, each state must prepare a plan for diversifying gas supplies. A break with Russian gas will certainly happen. Everyone who is still literally breathing Russian oil smoke must report on their steps. Yes, Slovakia and Hungary are currently continuing imports, but not for long.

Remember, breaking the new rules will have serious consequences: fines are becoming a reality – €2.5 million for individuals, €40 million for companies, and that’s just the beginning. But don’t forget, in emergency situations the Commission can suspend the ban, giving a new chance to the enemies of real change.

We must not forget: after the war with Ukraine began in March 2022, we laid the foundations for energy independence. Now, reformatting Europe's energy map is not just a plan, it is a fight for the future. The impossible becomes possible when we abandon dependence. Russian gas is only 13% of EU imports in 2025, but Europe paid 15 billion euros for it, and that is too much.

The EU Council decision is not just a signature on paper. It is a new path, a new course, a new struggle. Against the system of imitation, for the truth, for energy that does not obey.
