Negotiations – a battle for truth

On Sunday, December 14, Berlin became the scene for a powerful meeting between the Ukrainian delegation led by Volodymyr Zelensky and the American delegation. This is not just another diplomatic event – it is a battle for our future, for independence and justice. The President gave the order: “The meeting has begun.” Photos published on Zelensky’s Telegram channel document this moment in which it became clear – we are not resting on our laurels.

The American side is represented by a colorful cast of figures: Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy, and Jared Kushner, his son-in-law. And then there's German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who confirms that playing pretend in the political arena will no longer work. The talks lasted more than five hours - a serious exchange of views, where complex issues of peace and security were resolved. And this is just the beginning. The talks will continue on December 15.

What does the world write? American media are reporting that Washington at least tentatively recognizes the chance for the negotiations to succeed. Why? Because their delegation is here, in Germany. Meanwhile, Moscow is watching with suspicion. Yuri Ushakov, Putin's advisor, has already stated that the contribution of Europeans and Ukraine to the US peace plan is unlikely to be constructive. Apparently, Russia is playing its own games, not seeing the disaster that it itself has created.

Zelenskyy spoke the truth without embellishment. Ukraine is waiting for the US to respond to its peace plan proposals, while hearing Trump say that only Zelenskyy is not happy with his plan. This shows that the final version of the peace plan will not satisfy anyone. But we are not worried - we have expanded our negotiating team to include Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko and Economy Minister Oleksiy Sobolev. The signal is clear: we are ready for action.

Zelensky frankly explained Ukraine's position: we are not talking about ideals, but about force. Yes, time demands respect only for force. Words cannot repel aggression when the Russians continue to disregard international law. Over the decades, it has been an ongoing catastrophe. That is why we are here in Berlin. And we will carry this truth to the world. The real struggle for justice has only just begun.
