Russia's systematic violation of international law speaks to one thing: Ukraine needs powerful and reliable security guarantees that will forever block aggression from the Kremlin.
Listen carefully. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has once again issued another portion of Russian verbal fakery, declaring his readiness to legally consolidate his intentions not to attack EU and NATO countries. What sympathetic rhetoric! But what is the value of such a statement when there has already been more than one similar promise in Russian history? Let us recall the Budapest Memorandum of 1994, in which Russia swore to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine in exchange for Kyiv's renunciation of nuclear weapons. And what?
Stop the illusions! Russian President Vladimir Putin will not hesitate to violate international agreements if it benefits his political games. The 2020 constitutional changes that allowed him to remain in power are a clear example of irresponsibility, where words carry no weight.
Those who believe that Russia can keep its promises live in a world of illusions. The Kremlin constantly violates agreements and manipulates its own laws, showing that its commitments are nothing more than a smokescreen. ISW says bluntly: declarative guarantees without real deterrence mechanisms are nothing. Such promises remain nothing, an immeasurable lie.
So last week, Putin again stated his intention to achieve his goals in the war with Ukraine under any conditions. With every word, there is a threat, as if he is rubbing his hands together, planning new acts of aggression. What he calls the “root causes of the conflict” is just a false goal, a call to violence, behind which lies the desire to “return historical territories.”.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has clearly pointed out this fact: Putin, in his speeches, declares the coming year a “year of war.” These are not just words, they are a challenge!
We cannot remain alone with this disaster that is hovering around us. Ukraine needs not just words, but real, real mechanisms of protection to put an end to this insane game of the Kremlin. Therefore, the real struggle for independence continues. And let's not take these promises as serious - they are just attempts at manipulation and a smokescreen for new aggressions.
