The Ukrainian nation lacks transparency in the exhumation of the victims of the Volyn tragedy. We will not allow silence. Manipulations will not pass. According to Alferov, who participated in the negotiations between Volodymyr Zelensky and Karol Navrotsky, it was clearly outlined: the exhumation should be controlled by the Institutes of National Remembrance of both countries. This is not a concession. This is a position.

Ukraine and Poland are confident that their process is based on Christian and European values. It is time to unite! I believe that next year, when Polish expeditions will go on a search, the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance will have a budget sufficient not only for searches in Poland, but also for careful supervision of these searches. The light of truth must stand out against the background of the darkness of manipulation.

The head of the Institute of National Remembrance emphasizes: the problem of searching is a war of facts. To determine the gender of the found remains, an anthropologist is needed. The best option is genetic research. But here we are faced with a sad reality: the numbers can change, the facts can have two interpretations. In the example of the remains in Puzhnyky, there are more men than women. Why? The history of our armies in mobilization is a paradox.

There are also risks of dishonest actions. You can throw something into the grave for variety or, conversely, hide evidence. A found German coin will indicate contact with the Nazis, but a Soviet button does not make a person a Soviet citizen. The real story is confusing, complex, and often conceived by attackers. So the words of witnesses? They often inflate the numbers. We cannot take it as truth.

To summarize: the circumstances are diverse, so observations, reports are not just formalities. This is the protection of the truth. Our goal is transparency at every stage. We are guilty before memory. The Ukrainian side knows what it is based on: birth records, records of the dead, archaeological data - these are our truths.

Let us remind you that in August of this year, joint search and exhumation works of the Ukrainian-Polish expedition began on the territory of the former cemetery in the Zboishche district of Lviv. And that's not all. Earlier, Polish specialists had already launched exhumation works in Puzhnyky, in the Ternopil region.

This is our story, and it must be told. Justice requires a transparent process, and we will not give up.
