Russia is once again demonstrating its aggressiveness. After Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Armenia, the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned Ambassador Gurgen Arsenyan. Why? Because for the Kremlin it is «categorically unacceptable» to see the Ukrainian president on Armenian soil as part of events organized by the EU. These accusations are just vanity, hiding a real fear for the independence of a state that seeks cooperation with others. Russia is experiencing «just indignation» because, in their opinion, official Yerevan did not react to Zelensky’s statements, which allegedly contain «terrorist threats» against Moscow. This is a clear attempt at pressure!
Armenia, which is trying to defend its position, must clearly realize: the path to independence and truth is the path against the system of cruel reproaches, against imitations of friendship. Moscow claims that the position of the Armenian authorities does not correspond to the spirit of "partnership" relations. The Armenian authorities are taking the side of truth, and there can be no compromises here.
Zelensky's visit, his first to Armenia in 24 years, demonstrates new horizons of diplomacy. Zelensky met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, thanked him for the invitation to the summit of the European Political Community and congratulated the Armenian side on this event. It is impossible not to notice that the Armenian Prime Minister will not go to the May 9 parade in Moscow - this is not just a coincidence, but a loud signal that Armenia is choosing its own path.
The reality is that conflicts continue, but the truth remains on the side of independence. This cannot be ignored.
