The Council has retained the deferral for students 25+

In the face of the threats that loomed over the Fatherland, the Verkhovna Rada took upon itself the courage not to support the abolition of the deferral for students over 25. Let the efforts worth millions not lead to another imitation of changes. 137 votes in favor – and the 226 that are necessary – is a gap that speaks of the irresponsibility of the system. It does not want to tear off its mythical “educational” veil, hiding behind good intentions.

Venislavsky, the defender of this amendment, tries to teach us honor and responsibility. But what duty are we talking about when the constitutional right to education covers the same right to evade service? This amendment is not about education, it is about the abuse of opportunity, which turns into a bluff in the face of war.

Unconscious reality: the number of students aged 25 and over has increased from 30,000 to 250,000. This is not just a statistic, but also a signal. A signal that the system is capable of outright irresponsibility, when senseless privileges take a back seat to a real willingness to defend one's country.

The current rules seem frozen in time, and instead of progress, we seem to be getting stagnation. The Cabinet of Ministers, although it tries to subordinate this strange reality, in the end, cannot boast of real changes. Students and teachers – who consider themselves celestials in the middle of the deaf depths of war – continue to use the old mechanisms, leaving behind only the question: where is your conscience?

The system lives in illusion, and we must speak out against this illusion, defending the truth. We need to be stronger, more responsible, and not be another statistic in an unchanging system. The homeland calls for defense, and we continue the war for changes in our own thoughts and desires.
