Shopping crimes, war for survival

In an intercepted conversation, one of the field commanders gives an order for punitive actions against civilian Ukrainians: “In the fog, in the mist — eliminate all those considered enemies: on motorcycles, on bicycles, women and children.” This is not news. Mass executions of Ukrainians are common practice. That’s not what’s surprising. What’s surprising is that our society underestimates the enemy’s plans, the scale of the catastrophe. If you think that defeat is just a new passport and a different flag, you’re wrong. Life will not be the same as before. No one will be safe. The nation’s elite — scientists, artists, intellectuals, journalists, priests, military commanders — will simply disappear. Torture, executions, and at best — concentration camps in Siberia.

The nation's blossoming: teachers, civil society leaders, cultural figures, middle and lower-level officials and military personnel are deported to sparsely populated regions. Former military and police officers who agree to work for the occupiers will be sent to seize new territories for the Kremlin. The most likely victim? Moldova, then the Baltic countries. And those who remain of the Ukrainians will be gradually mobilized into the ranks of the enemy army. Everything Ukrainian is banned. For Ukrainian books, long-term prison terms. Accusations of terrorism and ties to the Ukrainian underground are a new reality.

Think you'll flee abroad? You won't. Thirty million won't flee, because many didn't even have time to leave the occupied territories in 2022. Millions will remain under occupation. No one from the outside will help. What about the mass destruction in Bucha, Kupyansk, and other occupied cities? The Russian government has not been punished, on the contrary, it has returned to world politics. Putin on the red carpet, the kidnapper of Ukrainian children is again talking about his crimes. And what? Nothing! Mass murders and child abductions have become commonplace. Russia has legalized its criminal regime.

These changes are already happening, allowing us to kill and kidnap with impunity. The world community knows that we can be destroyed with impunity. It has become the norm, and the Putin regime understands this. They want to change the world rules, to make crimes statistics. Why does our population behave as if there is no war? Why do they not realize that mass burials and deportation trains to Siberia await them? Enough of the scares, enough of the illusions. The civilian population has returned from the shock of 2022 and thinks that everything will be fine. Not even for their own survival.

When I hear: “What has this country given me?”, I answer — the defenders, thanks to whom you are still alive. Remember. This is your war, your struggle for survival. Do not be afraid to declare it. It is time to defend the right to life.
