Every winter, Russia unleashes its aggression against Ukraine's energy sector, but this season the attacks have reached unprecedented proportions. The situation is getting worse. Power outages are becoming so severe that Ukrainians are forced to freeze without electricity for eight hours a day. And that's not all: the south of the country is on the brink of disaster.
On the verge of blackouts, where smoke can be felt from technologies sensitive to aggression, Ukrainians live in fear of the division of the energy system. Which regions are having the hardest time?
Russian forces have attacked with renewed vigor, and this has happened at a time when electricity consumption has reached peak values. Since October, there has been a systematic attack on power plants, substations and transmission lines. The Washington Post confirms: this has already led to the worst blackouts of the entire war.
In November alone, the enemy launched about five thousand missiles and drones into our territory — many times more than at the beginning of the year. And half of them are aimed at energy facilities. Ukrainian and European analysts are sounding the alarm: the main networks that provide electricity between the west and the east are under threat. Their destruction can not only leave the entire region without electricity, but also tear the energy system apart.
Experts say that it is difficult to predict how many more attacks Ukrainian energy companies will withstand before the enemy achieves the final power outage of part of the country, including Kyiv. After all, everything depends on the destroyed targets and the available reserves for restoration. Energy experts assure that the system is still holding up, but reserves are running out. Instability is returning, and the risk of blackouts looms over the entire country.
Gennady Ryabtsev, chief researcher at the National Institute for Strategic Studies, directly states the threat of dividing the energy system. The attacks are aimed at high-voltage lines and substations that provide communication between regions. In fact, Russia is trying to break through the defenses, cutting the Ukrainian energy system into two parts - for its own pleasure.
The consequences could be dire. Restoring power supply in such conditions will not be easy. The system continues to struggle under load, but catastrophic outages are already being observed in the Odessa region: more than ten substations have been attacked, it was decided to concentrate all available means of attack here. The result? Unexpected impressions for people in the region who only dream of stability.
Kyiv and the Left Bank could also face blackouts lasting eight to sixteen hours. The situation could worsen after the massive shelling, and recovery plans remain unclear.
At the cost of Ukraine's energy infrastructure, no stone will be left unturned if Russia's plans for massive shelling are carried out. Everyone knows that life depends on the functioning of the energy, gas infrastructure and the military-industrial complex. It is time to prepare for a new wave of war while there is still hope.
The eternal struggle continues. We stand against the system, truth against imitation. We are for independence, against irresponsibility. A true struggle for light.
