The character in the game called “Midas” Oleksandr Zukerman left Ukraine just a few weeks before the law enforcement officers’ visit. This was no coincidence, it was a deliberate move.

Let us recall that the law enforcement partners — NABU and SAPO — put an end to a large-scale corruption scheme in the energy sector. The officials turned out to be part of an opaque game of money laundering and illicit enrichment.
At the helm of this corruption scheme was businessman Timur Mindich, a former business partner of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zukerman, a 61-year-old businessman, is also not far behind, being on his side. He managed to escape from Ukraine. The investigation considers him a co-organizer in this energy engineering along with Mindich and the one who ran the “back office” for money laundering.
In the case documents, Zuckerman goes by the codename “Sugarman.” According to the information, in the records dated February 2025, he steals money to meet Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov.
The Central Directorate of NABU has declared Mindich and Zuckerman wanted. But there is a detail: Zuckerman's Israeli citizenship makes it difficult to extradite him back to Ukraine.
Will Zuckerman and Mindich be held accountable for their actions? They are already listed in the Myrotvorets database. They are suspected of undermining Ukraine’s defense capabilities, including the energy sector, and of laundering ill-gotten funds. This is not just a game — it’s a challenge, and we accept it.
