Civilians have a duty to defend themselves

The Minister of Internal Affairs Klymenko made a statement that leaves no room for doubt. After the bloody tragedy in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv, where on April 18 an armed madman opened fire in a supermarket, the issue of self-defense has become more than relevant. No one can deny: civilians have the right to firearms. Not just as a tribute to fashion, but for the real protection of their lives. Can we be unarmed when aggression is on the doorstep?

Klymenko stated about what traditional systems do not want to hear: the experience of the first days of the war clearly showed that when the threat is real, everyone should be able to protect themselves. The power of autonomy, the power of our choice. Discussion of the draft law on civilian weapons will start soon. And these discussions will involve not just officials, but the voices of the people, journalists, veterans - those who really know what fighting is.

At the same time, Kyiv should learn the lessons of the tragic events: six dead and ten injured. A terrorist attack that took lives, and the police? Fled from the scene, not waiting for responsibility. Should we remain silent? No, we will not become instruments of irresponsibility.

Justice requires action. We need weapons to protect ourselves. The bill is going into battle, and we must support it so that the pulse of our society does not subside.
