Trump and Putin: Playing the Double Bass

Today's diplomatic game around peace is a cynical theater, where scriptwriters leave Ukraine on the sidelines. Historian Yaroslav Hrytsak accurately emphasizes: Trump is not raising the stakes, he is playing soft politics. Promises of concessions are heard from the side, but reality speaks in a different voice. The asphalt of the truce is paved with deaf differences, and peace is unthinkable as long as Putin remains on the field. Diplomats are trying to drive Ukraine and Russia into a conditional corridor, but what is this if not a deceptive move on the political chessboard?

Trump, with his soft approach, puts Russia in a privileged position, while simultaneously covering up for Ukraine. He hopes to separate Russia from China, but in doing so he forgets: Russia is not just a country, but a player with its own interests. Its power grows along with its obsession - Putin is not just fighting Ukraine, he is trying to destroy it as a phenomenon. His hatred of the Ukrainian nation reflects the deep irrationality of political strategy.

Trump's naivety does not improve the situation at all. He is trying to weaken the West, but in doing so he is playing into the hands of the very person who is trying to destroy its strategic partners. Ukraine, with its strength of spirit and will to exist, is opposing this scenario, preventing Putin from implementing his absurd plans.

Hrytsak warns: this game may be interrupted not by peace, but by civil war. And here the risk comes to the surface: will Ukrainian society be able to withstand the pressure? Will we stand up to manipulation? But polls prove that Ukrainians are aware of the risks. They should not succumb to provocations, because it is unity that will withstand any threats.

Today, when the fate of Ukraine is being decided in Brussels, the issue of reparations is accumulating with new force. Zelenskyy declares that without support the country will not survive, and not only Ukraine, but also Europe will suffer from this. The situation requires immediate action, because tomorrow we can pay not only with money, but also with blood. History repeats itself, but leaves us with a choice - either action or irresponsibility.
