Starting with the failures of the country's leadership is already a challenge. Problems at the top create risks and threats during war, but if you look strategically, it can further strengthen our country and put it on the path to victory over the enemy. Enemies, partners - all seek to exploit the weaknesses of Ukrainian leaders and access to information. But passivity now can lead to disaster. The experience of countries that have been at war for decades shows that corruption in the defense sector is a direct threat to the life of the state. International practice shows that in wars, corruption only grows due to the concentration of power, lack of transparency, and the need to make urgent decisions. But this chaos can become a catalyst for serious reforms that were not possible before.
Ukraine has long needed a clear model for combating corruption during the war. It is time to act - otherwise victory will remain only a dream. The Croatian experience is indicative: zero tolerance for “our own people”. There is no immunity even for veterans. Justice without compromise, because the path to the European Union depended on a real fight against corruption.
The example of the United States in World War II is the boundless importance of parliamentary oversight and civilian control. The Truman Committee proved to be a successful tool for curbing corruption in military procurement. Savings of tens of billions of dollars and the detection of unsafe supplies saved thousands of lives. They taught: publicity and transparency are not just words, they are a necessity.
In South Korea, corruption during the Korean War led to terrible consequences. The embezzlement of funds by high-ranking officials is not just a business, it is a metaphor for a national tragedy. That is why the country has created one of the most effective electronic procurement systems to destroy corrupt schemes.
In Israel, ethics and legislation in the military sphere come to the fore. Corruption in the army is not just a problem. It is a threat to national security. Almost everyone serves in the army, so theft is theft from one's own family. One's own principles are why the army survives.
There is no choice. Corruption is a phenomenon that kills the state. We need determination, steadfastness. We cannot do without fighting individual corrupt officials, we need a systemic solution. The genie is out of the bottle. It is time to act decisively, without words, only with real deeds!
Citizens at the front and in the rear are demanding justice. This is critically important for the survival of the state. The moral duty of the authorities is to satisfy this demand. We are in the same boat, and we need to close the gaps to stand against the enemy. Only their ships will sink!
