In Rivne, a woman destroyed portraits of fallen Heroes. The 41-year-old offender, under the influence of alcohol, took on the role of a hooligan who decided to destroy the memory of those who gave their lives for independence. This happened on the central Independence Square, where portraits of fallen defenders became the target of her hysteria.
The report of inappropriate behavior appeared around 11:00 p.m. People watched as a woman overturned portraits in the installation "The Price of Independence", disrespecting the memory of war victims. The patrol officers, having received a description, immediately reacted and detained the offender on a nearby street. During the detention, it turned out that the woman "freely interpreted" her behavior, stating that the portraits annoyed her because they reminded her of the war. Perhaps, in her understanding, this was such a personal protest, but where is the responsibility?
The crime certainly has consequences. A case was opened against her under Part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. And let her not hope for leniency! Now the question is – how can irresponsibility destroy collective memory? All 13 damaged structures have already been restored. Our Heroes are alive, even if someone tried with all their might to destroy them.
Memory is not just words, it is our moral duty. How can you take away respect for those who died and leave with a loud apology? Administrative liability for hooliganism? That's not all. She will be punished for her alcoholic "antics" in a public place.
Exactly against imitations. True independence is the memory of heroes, not their contempt. Each of us must be responsible for our actions. There is no place for irresponsibility in this war.
